(Tumon, Guam) Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero has submitted her plan to spend $117,968,257.80 in federal CARES Act funds to Speaker Tina Muna Barnes. Not a single penny in her plan will provide food for families who are going hungry during this crisis as a result of her policies.
She has instead tucked away $3.5 million for credit card fees that will be paid to the Bank of Guam, her family's bank. That is part of a $9.5 million stowaway to the Department of Administration to pay for a data system.
Other expenditures she will make include a $740.40 wireless mouse for a laptop and an $849.40 laptop bag for the budget office. The DISID office will buy 12 laptops at $2,500 each, and six MiFi devices at $400 each.
The Hagatna Restoration and Redevelopment Authority will get a $2,443 iPad, a $5,376 laptop, and a $596 battery backup system.
The Civil Service Commission will get a $2,000 60-inch television.
By contrast, the Guam Police Department will get only $11.290.63 for undertaking public safety measures at a time, when family violence reports are increasing. The Judicial Branch will get $1,188.73. The Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center will get only $6,000 for telehealth software.
