Jude Hofschneider, the CNMI Senator from Tinian, has been elected president of the CNMI Senate. He succeeds Sen. Victor Hocog of Rota.

Mr. Hofschneider previously held the position during the Fitial administration. When then-Gov. Benigno Fitial resigned from office and then-Lt. Gov. Eloy Inos became the governor, Mr. Hofschneider became the lieutenant governor.

Should Gov. Ralph Torres be removed from, or resign from office, Mr. Hofschneider again would become the lieutenant governor.
